  • A step-by-step guide on how you can do the same

  • 4 quick-fire startup ideas to profit from the hype

  • The 1 problem that’s KILLING Threads

📣 Community Shout Outs

Niall also writes a newsletter that brainstorms all the ways you can make money online, recommending only the best ideas. I was honoured for my Paperclip Project to be featured in the last one so THANK YOU!

Ray like many of you is doing #100daysofnocoode. His project is to build prompt swipe files and notion headers with AI. Check them out!

💌 We’re launching a new referral reward (+free shoutout worth $50)

Shh, I’m planning a juicier referral scheme for you. 🤑 In the meantime,  Share this newsletter on Twitter, your newsletter (or anywhere!) and send me a screenshot or a link to qualify for a shoutout like the guys above.

🔎 Threads - The app every media company is hyping up

It’s all a BIG hype.

There. I’ve said it.

I’ve been asked multiple times what I think of it and I believe it’s massively overhyped. HOWEVER, hype creates opportunities. With every new platform comes a plethora of business opportunities, and Threads is no exception. Here are my favourites:

✨5 Threads related startup ideas✨

  1. Creator Matchmaker:
Sooner or later, brands will be looking for creators to partner with, especially because their current discovery feature absolutely SUCKS. I’ve already seen excel based MVPs of this going so move fast on this one.

  2. Threads for Education:
Threads' text-based format is perfect for educational content. Surface the best content by categories.

  3. Threads SEO:
As with any platform, visibility is key. I have already identified a few hacks to get your profile visible so this certainly will become a thing (just like TikTok SEO).

  4. Threads Profile A/B Testing Tool:
Understanding what works and what doesn't is crucial. A tool that allows businesses to A/B test different profile elements could provide valuable insights. (But let Birdy.so be a cautionary tale on platform risk!)

  5. Threads on PC/laptop:
Just had to throw this one in. A very short window to promote a temporary solution before they roll out a desktop version (it’s currently only on mobile)

😵 0 to 1k accounts with NO pre-existing Instagram following?

The BIG problem with Threads that’s destroying the app’s user experience, is “ghost brands” - big brands that leveraged their Instagrams to gain huge following on Threads without actually being active on the platform. 🤯 They keep coming up on search, making the real, fast-growing active accounts very very hard to find.

If you’re new, I’ve curated a list of who to follow instead (You’re welcome)

But if you want the REAL zero to hero stories. These new accounts are absolutely crushing it on Threads:

  1. Olesia is in Tech - 0 to 1500 followers in a week!

  2. Nikki is building a coding edTech - 0 to 1k in a week.

  3. Sepideh is building FigChallenge (Figma designs) - 0 to 1k in a week

  4. Amber - a speaking coach who made her first sale via Threads

💀 Risks

I will say it again: Threads IS OVERHYPED. We're noticing a trend of users returning to Twitter, social media managers grumbling about Threads eating into their Instagram interactions, and folks struggling to delete their Threads accounts.

However, with Meta's Metaverse vision on shaky ground, Threads is likely their fallback plan. You can be sure they'll pull out all the stops to ensure its success.
